About ITS International
Overview
During the 1980’s, the pressure on transport networks for business and commercial use was enormous. National, regional and local government transportation departments faced increasing vehicular capacity which, left unchecked, would have significant environmental and financial implications. Greater capacity needed to be generated from existing networks but without the technology in place this was unlikely to succeed. Faced with this scenario, the need for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) became apparent.
As little was known about how the technology would perform in “real-time”, early deployments were rudimentary. However, growing political, security, social and environmental pressures for change resulted in the increased deployment of ITS.
In recent years the industry has made enormous strides in shaping the future of transportation. The technology is proven and the need for ITS and the benefits they deliver, not only road based but in all forms of surface transportation, is accepted.
Multi-modal applications have become a reality. Consultants and Systems Integrators actively consider the complementary relationship between the car, mass transit and light rail when planning transportation systems. By offering a choice of transport modes, travel has become easier and more flexible, productivity is enhanced and the environment is improved by limiting emissions caused by congestion.
Our development
Route One Publishing tracked the emergence of the ITS sector through our sister publication, World Highways. In light of these developments, a decision was made to launch a dedicated global business-to-business publication, specifically geared to the requirements of this emerging sector. In March 1995 the first issue of ITS International was published, to assess the benefits of Intelligent Transport Systems as they moved from research and development into full-scale installations.
ITS International concentrates on the deployment of technology, rather than simply the technology itself. Consequently, it is possible to examine the effectiveness of proposed solutions and assess how well the technology performs in real-time.
Uniquely, ITS International covers the full range of applications including mass transit and light rail systems. Through the pages of the TranSmart section, ITS International provides a series of dedicated articles that illustrate the benefits of multi-modal transport systems in urban environments.
This approach established ITS International as the leading title serving the industry. Articles published on merit and relevance have been independently researched and written. The editorial integrity of ITS International has resulted in achieving unparalleled reader loyalty.
Circulation
BPA International conducts the most thorough independent audit on the circulation of ITS International. It ensures all circulation claims are accurate, the supporting data is correct, and only those who genuinely qualify under the terms of the controlled circulation receive copies of the publication.
ITS International has the largest qualified circulation of any title serving the global sector with 22,136 copies per issue. Therefore, whether you need to cover the ITS industry on a worldwide or regional basis, ITS International is your targeted and cost-effective route to market.

Every issue of ITS International also includes the Transmart Section, which addresses ITS applications in mass transit & public transport. Additionally, there will be 4-5 pages of new product announcements per issue.
ITS International will publish 3-editions of the Daily News (show newspaper) and the Final Program & Exhibitor Directory for the ITS America Annual Meeting.
The Daily News uniquely keeps visitors and delegates fully informed on announcements that are made at these leading events. As all 3 editions are produced live on-site, all the breaking news is reported directly from the exhibition floor. The Daily News has become the ‘Statement of Record’ for events where it is present, providing delegates with considerable added value and delivering unparalleled exposure to the companies that advertise in it.
The Exhibitor Directory/Final Program is a ‘must read’ publication. Without this reference, delegates will not know where their sessions are taking place, or at what time. Therefore it is guaranteed to receive exceptional levels of readership throughout the event. This presents exhibitors with a highly attractive advertising environment which can be used to entice potential buyers to their booths.

E-MEDIA 2004
The Internet
With the launch in 2003 of the new version of www.itsinternational.com, Route One Publishing is inventing new ways for readers to access industry intelligence. They include improved procedures for advertisers to reach their customers online.
As well as our on-going daily news service and our directory of forthcoming events, the website will host editorial features from back issues of the magazine.
There's also a new directory known as the Industry Index, which puts readers in touch with suppliers and industry bodies. Within this index, your company listing can be enhanced with your logo, a 1000 word description, details of your regional offices, and downloadable presentations and press releases. You can also sponsor your category in the Industry Index to secure a more prominent display in the search listings.
We offer a range of options for placing advertisements on different sections of the website.
Feature articles, unpaid Industry Index entries and the 5 year news archive can only be accessed by registered users. Registration is free, but the information we receive enables us to offer targeted direct mail and opt-in email services.
Route One has pioneered on-line publishing for the transportation and civil engineering industries. The original ITS International website was launched in 1998. The company is unrivalled in its utilisation of the Internet to enhance its print products and in providing more dynamic marketing services to its clients.
