John Harris, Business Development Director of Vialis, shows us the sharp end of the GridSmart system
According to John Harris, business development director for Vialis International, a visit to stand Number 9.101 in hall 9 sees a unique ‘green’ 3D video detection system with simultaneous video surveillance and monitoring. This, combined with an all new efficient traffic signal controller and Hermes back office software, empowers customers with a giant step forward in controllable advanced traffic management systems combined with a reduced carbon footprint.
“The stand is demonstrating our capability in highway standard to HD quality VMS solutions on a monster 2m x 2m LED panel, together with citywide back-office software solutions and a revolutionary way to accurately monitor multi-lane traffic movements from a safe and non-invasive location,” says Harris.
With GridSmart on board the new VTC99 controller, Harris says the unique 3D detection enables intelligent transportation systems to move into another dimension, almost with its own ‘black box’ on board, providing at least the same or better detection accuracy as loops combined with traditional machine vision detection. Substantially reduced lifetime costs are achieved through a single camera which has no moving parts to maintain or wear out.
The GridSmart / VTC99 controller combination enables very low power detection and control supported by a new central light source, high intensity signal aspects of less than seven watts power consumption.
Also on show is a new addition to the signage range, a programmable high intensity VMS safety sign with the capability to show many options of highway pictograms, detected speeds both by point-to-point or ‘point speed’ detection, together with captured number-plates / licence tags and an additional safety message if required.
