HTS relaunches identification system at Intertraffic
HTS is showing its re-launched vehicle identity recognition (VIR) systems at Intertraffic, with the equipment now able to identify a vehicle’s make and model as well as its numberplate.
The system is already “operational on three different continents – we can’t say where,” said Meta Rotenberg, the Israeli company’s vice-president business development.
She described the system as “way beyond licence plate recognition” but noted that all the functions necessary to identify the vehicle’s make and model were handled by the same engine.
She added that identifying the vehicle was not accomplished by laser profiling – “very expensive” – but declined to detail the system’s technology.
