’ participation at this year’s Intertraffic event coincides with the company’s 25th birthday celebrations and the impact it has had on the industry.
The transportation industry was changed when Dr Panos Michalopoulos, the company’s founder, had the vision to use video image processing (machine vision) technology for advanced traffic management. Seeing the potential of using video cameras and computers in real-life traffic applications to offer innovative solutions to increasingly congested roadways, he initiated Autoscope research and development when the market was in its infancy.
As Image Sensing Systems points out, over the last 25 years, Autoscope has been deployed in over 65 countries and has been a mainstay in the above-ground detection market.
“Autoscope was based on innovation twenty-five years ago and we continue that tradition today by developing video detection products that meet the market demands,” said Dale Parker, Interim CEO of Image Sensing Systems. “From the very first Autoscope 2002 to the current Autoscope Encore, these products are improving traffic information, systems performance and cost efficiencies and ultimately, helping traffic managers improve safety, reduce air pollution and mitigate traffic congestion.”
Image Sensing Systems says Autoscope today remains a leader in above-ground detection and continues to be innovative by delivering accurate and reliable detection.
“We would like to congratulate everyone that has made Autoscope a success over the years. The future is bright for Autoscope as we continue to explore new ways to create value through innovation,” says Dale Parker.
