Haenni Instruments recently launched its latest static mobile wheel load scale, the WL 108, and is heavily marketing it in the U.S. According to export manager Marcia Otter, new features enhance the scale’s mobility, making it easier for transportation and enforcement agencies to set up temporary weigh stations in less than ideal conditions.
The WL 108 is compliant with International Organization of Legal Metrology Mutual Acceptance Arrangements (OIML MAA) and now comes with a wireless option and increased battery life (180 hours with only two hours of charge time). It can operate in a temperature range of -20 to 60oC, and a new sensor monitors inclination across length and width of the scale while a new graphic display with backlight makes results more readable. The scale is only 17 mm thick, eliminating the need for ramps while shortening the required length of levelling mats.
Otter also touted an engineering change that moved the battery and electrical components separate from the
scale mechanisms. If either fails, those parts can be repaired without having to recertify the scale.
