Travelling in the same direction: Richard Harris ITS UK international director and Weiyun Jiao from the China ITS Industry Alliance
has signed a memorandum of understanding with the China ITS Industry Alliance—cementing cooperation between the two industry groups on ITS research, planning and deployment issues.
The deal was signed at ITS World Congress in Montreal by ITS UK international director Richard Harris and Weiyun Jiao, deputy secretary general for the China ITS Industry Alliance.
Specifically, the two groups have committed to exchange information and technical publications, facilitate private and public sector contact and visits, exchange effective management practices and discuss policy issues that affect the industry.
“The ITS industry has been rapidly growing in China, and we’re eager to introduce our technology to a more global market,” Jiao said shortly before the official signing. She went on to say that her organisation plans to sign agreements with other ITS groups—especially in Europe.
According to Harris, the UK has hosted several official Chinese visits in the past and was eager to formalise the relationship.
