In 1988, JTekt
, a Toyota Group company, succeeded in the development and mass production of the electric power steering (EPS) system and driving was made easier worldwide.
As visitors to the company’s stand within the Japan Pavilion here at the ITS World Congress will learn, over the last 30 years the company’s EPS systems have been installed on 100 million cars. Indeed, one in three cars on earth are equipped with JTekt’s EPS system.
Of course, JTekt has continued to innovate and develop its products since and now supports a wide range of functions such as steering system and drive-line components. Visitors to the company’s stand here in Copenhagen can experience, in addition to an advanced SBW (steer by wire) demonstration display for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), an exciting autonomous driving experience with the JTekt 360 virtual reality JGoggle2 demonstration.
JTekt is also demonstrating a precise docking control system for next-generation transport to enable consistent accessibility for all travellers, including the elderly and the disabled. A special video presentation shows an autonomous bus approach fitted with the system stop and park with an accuracy of less than 10cm using this advanced technology.
Other features include smoothness in getting on and off the bus; smooth braking and steering control; and robust control in various environments.
