Constant Pilote of LeddarTech
LeddarTech, a specialist in the development of high-performance lidar flash SSL sensor technology, is using the ITS World Congress to launch a pair of 2D light detection and ranging (lidar) sensors – the Leddar T16 & M16-LSR which are suitable for an extensive range of transport and mobility applications.
The Leddar T16 traffic sensor is a robust, flash solid state lidar (SSL) designed explicitly for traffic monitoring applications. It features a high measurement rate of 200Hz, which translates into high-speed vehicle detection with good distinction between different objects, including tailgating vehicles, towed vehicles and hitched wagons.
It can reliably detect vehicles of all sizes while moving at speed, including cars, motorcycles and large commercial trucks.
The company says the Leddar T16 provides reliable resolution for vehicle identification in the most demanding weather conditions, making it ideally suited for applications in the e-tolling sector.
Meanwhile, the Leddar M16-LSR is a cost-effective multi-target lidar module with 16 independent segments for rapid and continuous detection of multiple moving objects simultaneously. Leveraging cost-effective laser sources, the device features a detection range of up to 165 metres (500ft). It is offered in laser beam options enabling the field of view to be tailored to application-specific purposes.
Both flash SSL offerings are optimised for reliable detection performance in challenging environmental and lighting conditions, enabling innovative applications in the mobility space. LeddarTech says potential uses are vast for both the T16 and the M16-LSR in applications in smart urban environments, intelligent roads, and innovative pedestrian crossing detection.
