Conduent Transportation is to provide New York tolling authorities with upgraded systems and services as part of three eight-year contract renewals worth approximately $488 million.

Specifically, Conduent is to provide upgraded E-ZPass account management systems as well as numberplate identification solutions for the US state's Tolls By Mail programme.

The programme allows drivers that do not have an E-ZPass transponder to receive an invoice in the post.

The contracts support the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Bridges and Tunnels, the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA), and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Conduent is to provide modernised transaction processing, account management and financial management systems, as well as integrated invoice mailing, payment processing, and numberplate identification solutions and services for customers. Pending federal approval, it will also support a congestion pricing programme when launched in New York City.

Additionally, the company will provide updates to the Tolls NY app that lets users make payments and manage their E-ZPass accounts.

Mark Brewer, president, transportation solutions at Conduent, says: “This award represents confidence in our global strategy to deliver modern transportation solutions as we provide smart technologies to benefit the environment and create improved driving experiences for millions of travellers.”

The contract renewals are scheduled to begin in early 2024.
