Near-miss recordings are compliant with data protection regulations, Dashfactory insists

German firm Dashfactory has released a dashcam specifically designed for cyclists to record near-miss events.

The Dashbike Mont Ventoux automatically saves video sequences when vehicles overtake within 1.5m of the bike – allowing the potential for redress in the event of dangerous driving or an accident.

The camera is attached to the lower saddle or seat post of the bike and the recordings it generates are compliant with data protection regulations, the firm says.

The product also allows cyclists to help improve urban bike infrastructure by sharing ride data anonymously to cities via the Dashtrack data platform.
