AT&T Connected Solutions is demonstrating a network-based security solution designed to detect anomalies in network traffic and generate actionable insights for IoT devices with its Mobile Threat and Anomaly Detection (MTAD) system.

MTAD pools information from many different sources – Radio Access Network (RAN), LTE and 5G Mobility cores, AT&T Threat Intelligence - and can display a compendium of anomalies or threats on a ‘security dashboard’.

The aim is to flag up any unusual spikes or other anomalies in a device’s traffic pattern that might indicate a cybersecurity threat.

The system will also notice any cellularly-connected IoT device that repeatedly tries to connect to AT&T’s radio network; detect malware or botnets; and keep a watch for ID spoofing or sim swapping incidents, among other capabilities. The system was introduced earlier this year, and we see a good amount of interest from IoT customers.
