Genetec wants transportation organisations to get more value out of their data through its Cloud Link Roadrunner. The gateway device acts as the brains of the traffic cabinet, consolidating dozens of data feeds onto a single traffic management dashboard from which engineers can create insights and make quick decisions that improve traffic flow and safety.
For example, traffic monitoring video feeds can be easily shared with emergency response personnel during a dangerous storm event. Essentially, at the press of a button, city officials can grant access to different data feeds based on current mission or emergency conditions.
“We start with a desired outcome and work backward from there to build capabilities that cities need,” said Kevin Burkhard, an account executive with the company.
Genetec also secures the cabinets themselves, working with partner Assa Abloy to limit access to authorised personnel. Genetec’s platform tracks access in real time, detecting when cabinet doors are open, closed or being tampered with.
