Changes are afoot at next year’s Intertraffic exhibition, as the organisers seek to spread the vast reservoirs of specialist knowledge among exhibitors across a bigger audience.
Intertraffic, which is staged biennially at the RAI exhibition centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is a global show that attracts more than 900 exhibitors from almost 50 countries and more than 30,000 visitors.
The show has previously had three theatres in the RAI. This year, however, there will also be four smaller stages used for presentations, covering topics such as parking, road infrastructure and road safety.
“We want to bring more knowledge on to the show floor,” said Intertraffic director Joyce de Winter. Each stage will be located in the area of the halls housing companies that specialise in the topic being presented on stage.
If one of the topics being covered has a wider audience – for example, if it involves governments and the transport ecosystem – it may be hosted in one of the larger theatres, which can have a capacity of as many as 200 people.
Next year’s show will also have a ‘summit’ covering six main themes – Future-Proof Roads, Smart Traffic Management, Drive the Future, Roadmap to Zero, Revolutionising Parking and Urban Mobility Reinvented.
The 2024 show saw the beginnings of collaboration with national ITS organisations and that will be expanded next year, with 15-20 national ITS organisations from Europe participating.
Some of their activities “will be integrated into the summit programme but alongside that they will run items for their own members,” said senior brand marketing manager, Carola Jansen-Young.
