ITS Korea and ITS Canada signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) Tuesday afternoon in the exhibitor hall at ITS World Congress 2025. The agreement reaffirms an agreement signed in 2017 at the ITS World Congress in Montreal that created a collaborative partnership between the two countries in the ITS industry.
The MOU was signed by Cheong-Hoe Heo, Chairman, ITS Korea, and Janneke van der Zee, managing director of ITS Canada. Officials from the South Korea Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport were in attendance as was Craig Hutton, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister of Policy for Transport, Canada. Chairperson and CEO of ITS Canada Shawna Boakes provided a recorded message that played at the signing ceremony.
The MOU lays out an expectation to exchange information and experiences about development strategies, SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) matchmaking and technology research.
According to van der Zee, ITS Canada is focusing on building more international partnerships with countries that have free trade agreements with the country – an initiative that is spelled out in the organisation’s strategic plan.
