Michelin promotes Safer Roads project

ITS World Congress 2025

Michelin Mobility Intelligence is turning raw data into road safety intelligence through data analysis from many sources including more than 40,000 mobile apps.

The Michelin Safer Roads project provides a timely view of a road network that leverages driving behaviour data to target the spots for safety improvements.

The object is to assess where a risk to drivers and other road users exists and mitigate those risks before an incident happens. It combines data sources from drivers and vehicles to accurately indicate the highest-risk areas of your road network on a map using machine learning and advanced analytics. It can identify hotspots where harsh braking, harsh acceleration, speeding and distracted driving occurs.

Highways agencies can also track and compare changes in speed and driver behaviour before and after safety countermeasures are implemented. They can analyse changes in driving behaviour to clearly measure the impact of infrastructure, education and enforcement changes. The result of Michelin Safer Roads is knowing what can happen before it happens.
