Making things easier comes naturally for the team from Orange Traffic. For years, they’ve been helping transportation agencies around the world streamline the way they install, maintain and replace LED signs through their remote power supply technology. Remote power supply integration technology relocates all power and control components to a roadside cabinet, eliminating the need for over-the-road maintenance. This drastically cuts down lane closure costs, traffic disruptions and safety risks. The company is currently working with Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) to deploy 200 LED signs on 30 gantries across Pioneer Crossing, a six-mile stretch of state route 145. The signs will direct drivers into the appropriate flex lanes as a way to reduce rush-hour congestion.

According to Marc Trembley, channel manager for the company’s North American market, moving power supply from the gantries to 40 roadside cabinets will make it easier to maintain and troubleshoot issues, cutting the time it takes to replace power supplies from one hour to three seconds.

Trembley also said that Orange Traffic signs consume significantly less energy than typical VMS signs, saving money while improving performance and sustainability.
