Denso is showcasing its new keyless entry technology for vehicle fleets at its stand this week at ITS World Congress 2025 in Atlanta. Already installed in BMW and Volvo vehicles in the consumer market, the keyless access is now being targeted to Denso’s fleet management customers.
“There are a lot of challenges around physical key fobs in large fleets,” said Yu Zhang, a representative of the company. “Keys get lost or stolen. They have to be stored and sorted. And there’s a security issue as well.”
Denso’s solution gives managers visibility and control into their fleet vehicles from a single dashboard. Users can assign vehicles and grant keyless access via employees’ phones or ID cards. As the driver nears the vehicle, doors can be unlocked. Location-based technology knows exactly where drivers are standing, allowing them to unlock specific doors or the trunk of the vehicle. Managers can even remotely start the vehicles for added efficiency or safety. The vehicles are automatically locked when the driver walks away.
According to Peyton Winstead, director of digital solutions for Denso, keyless entry is granted over Bluetooth and Car Connectivity Consortium’s ultra-wideband (UWB) standard for added security.
Denso’s fleet management dashboard also tracks who has had access to each vehicle, the vehicle’s status and other advanced telematics.
