Modern cities need transport infrastructure that can meet today’s mobility demands while preparing for the innovations of tomorrow. Derq, an MIT spinoff, is here to showcase how it delivers AI-powered intelligent transport systems that help cities and agencies prevent crashes, tackle road safety challenges, and improve traffic flow.

Derq’s hardware-agnostic, scalable platform integrates AI and IoT technologies with existing infrastructure — from video sensors to traffic signals — to detect, classify, and predict road user behaviour in real time. This transforms traditional infrastructure into intelligent systems, laying the foundation for safer, smarter cities.

The company’s flagship solutions, Derq Sense and Derq Insight, offer next-generation detection, connected vehicle applications, and live monitoring of safety and traffic performance. By converting raw sensor data into actionable insights, Derq supports city planners and engineers in unlocking the full value of their infrastructure. From road user prediction and safety hotspot identification to V2X messaging, 5G readiness, and traffic signal optimisation, Derq’s platform helps reduce congestion and collisions involving drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

In Sarasota, Florida, Derq helped reduce crashes by 33% year-over-year — with one intersection reporting a 90% reduction. This impact is backed by the Florida DOT, which certified Derq’s 99.83% vehicle detection accuracy across all lighting conditions.

Today, Derq’s award-winning technology is deployed across North America and globally. Backed by AT&T and e&, with tech partnerships including Nvidia and Intel, the company holds 18 patents and is the only private-sector tier one winner of the USDOT Intersection Safety Challenge.
