Guardrails protect motorcyclists, reduce noise
The New Jersey barrier integrated with noise protection panels has been developed expressly for installation on concrete.
Marcegaglia will be focusing on two guardrail innovations at Intertraffic. The first is for motorcyclist protection with a new system engineered to be fitted to all existing guardrails. It has been submitted to crash tests according to the Spanish national UNE 135900 standard, because a harmonised European standard is not yet enforced. According to the company, its motorcyclist’s guardrail produced a performance of level 1, thereby ensuring the utmost protection currently available for the safety of motorcyclists.
Meanwhile, the company’s New Jersey barrier integrated with noise protection panels has been developed expressly for installation on concrete, and has been tested for containment class H4b. Acoustic tests were performed, as well as tests with heavy vehicle (38-t truck at 65 km/h), light vehicle (900-kg automobile at 100 km/h) and motorcyclist according to UNE 135900, and CE homologation has been obtained (according to new standard 1317-5), making it homologated for all types of road vehicles. Acoustic performances registered a sound insulation index of B2 16 dB and reflection index: A3 8 dB.
