Measurement Devices Ltd (MDL) will be unveiling a major new innovation at this year’s Intertraffic. As the company points out, laser technology is now an essential addition to intelligent traffic management systems. Identifying vehicle width, speed, height and profile is vitally important information when monitoring and managing traffic flow; ensuring the safety of road users, requires correct identification of vehicles in relation to toll booth passes and alerts for height restricted areas.

In light of this, MDL has created a new laser module, the Static Scanning Module (SSM), created specially to enable full lane coverage without blind spots as well as classification of vehicle profiles. The company says the unique benefit of this new module is that it has no moving parts and therefore drastically reduces the potential for breakdown and the need for servicing, making it extremely reliable in an industry that requires dependability.
