Precision video camera speeds hard shoulder release

[ Zoom ]
Funkwerk Plettac Argoscan Hard Shoulder Release
Argoscan Hard Shoulder Release, from Funkwerk Plettac, is a solution for the temporary release of additional lanes on motorways with multistatic video detection. In the case of conventional, static camera monitoring, an operator in the traffic control centre has to visually check the motorway sections to be released, camera by camera, one after the other. However, Funkwerk will demonstrate at Intertraffic that its Argoscan system, and a small number of high-precision camera devices with pan/tilt heads, makes execution of hard shoulder release not only significantly faster and safer, but also at considerably less costly. Indeed, the company claims that, in comparison with conventional systems, Argoscan requires only 20 per cent of the cameras and additional video infrastructure currently needed for the same stretch of motorway.
