Berlin-Brandenburg is here at the ITS World Congress to promote Germany's capital region as an ideal location for everyone active in the field of intelligent mobility.
Building on outstanding research carried out at universities and scientific institutions, a lively scene has developed with start-ups, established SMEs and accelerator programmes of the major OEMs. Berlin and Brandenburg support this development with great commitment.
As Sascha Tiede, head of unit transport, mobility & logistics at Berlin Partner points out, Berlin Capital Region is already an important hotspot for ITS. "Berlin is one of the pioneers of automated driving. As early as 2011, even before Google was ready, an autonomous vehicle of the Freie Universität Berlin made its way through Berlin without a driver," Tiede said.
The region's strength is also demonstrated by the 90 ITS companies and 24 scientific institutions based in Berlin's capital region, as well as the fact that it has an innovative, dynamic ICT scene in the field of mobile applications, and is a proving ground for the latest transport technologies with outstanding international visibility.
Berlin Partner for Business and Technology, the city’s economic development corporation, is the first point of contact when companies want to start doing business in Berlin. It is consistently orientated towards the requirements of the customer.
Companies are accompanied through every stage of their development, from project qualification, funding, and location searches to personnel recruitment, innovation consultancy, the search for partners, all the way to stepping out into international markets.
