Ertico – ITS Europe has selected Hamburg, Germany’s second largest city and the EU’s biggest non-capital city, to host the 28th ITS World Congress in 2021. The event will take place in Hamburg’s refurbished Congress Centre in October 2021 and will have the four main themes: Automated and Connected Driving; MaaS – Mobility as a Service; Ports and Logistics; and Intelligent Infrastructure.
Speaking during the announcement at the current World Congress in Montreal, Ertico CEO Jacob Bangsgaard said: “Hamburg had an exceptional proposal which highlighted the incredible developments of the city in finding smart mobility solutions through its ITS strategic plan.”
City of Hamburg senator Frank Horch added that Hamburg wants to become Germany’s model city for urban mobility and logistics solutions. Hamburg’s bid for ITSWC 2021 had received the support of over 100 partners across Europe, including national government, local authorities, Volkswagen, ITS Deutschland and other national associations.
