Lillian Zhang of Chain Zone
Chinese manufacturer Chain Zone
is, not surprisingly, keen to tell visitors to World Congress that it is supplying 700 EN12966-compliant variable message signs (VMS) for the new Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge/tunnel project.
The new 55km road bridge across the Pearl River estuary will connect Hong Kong airport to Macau on mainland China and includes a 6.7km tunnel section some 12km from the eastern end.
To inform and control drivers, Chain Zone is supplying 380 above ground lane signs and 200 smaller versions for the tunnel section, 130 speed limit signs, nine 11m x 2m and two 8m x 2m information signs.
Having been under construction for the last nine years, the $15bn roadway will be the world’s longest bridge tunnel combination when it opens towards the end of the year and is expected to reduce travel time by 60% for an estimated 40,000 vehicles per day.
