Cubic Transportation Systems has announced the company will provide Sydney, Australia, with a next-generation transport management solution that will put it at the forefront of multimodal transport management operations. The contract is valued at A$50 million. Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) operates one of the world’s most complex multimodal transport management centres (TMC). The TMC is a critical asset responsible for the planning, coordination, and proactive real-time management of the entire state transport network serving a growing population of 7.5 million.
Cubic, which has sponsored the ITS UK stand, has been a proud partner of TfNSW’s TMC for over 20 years. Under the new partnership, deploying their transport management platform and working with delivery partners, Microsoft, WSP, Mentz and PTV Group, Cubic will deliver a truly multimodal solution, transforming the TMC into a predictive and multimodal operation that optimises the entire transport network.
The new solution will enhance monitoring and management of the road network across the state; co-ordinate the public transport network across all modes; improve management of clearways; planning of major events and improve incident clearance times; while providing real-time information and advice to the public about disruptions.
The project will see New South Wales’ TMC transformed into a true multimodal operation across the state’s entire transport network to address congestion, improve safety and make public transport the mode of choice.
