Greenrail is talking to visitors at the ITS World Congress about its railway sleeper which it says comes with a lifespan of 55-60 years.
The railway sleeper, called Greenrail, is made from recycled plastic and rubber obtained from the recovery of end of life tyres.
Dawid Janik, communication & sustainable development manager at Greenrail, says: “The solution offers protection, reduces vibration and requires less maintenance.”
According to Greenrail, the company can design and produce a range of sleepers based on international technical specifications and individual needs.
“First we produce the outer shell and put the concrete inside. Each sleeper weighs 400kg,” Janik adds. The company’s Greenrail Solar and Linkbox versions integrate smart technologies in its structure to harvest solar energy and share diagnostic and security data.
“The Greenrail Solar will officially launch in 2019,” Janik concludes.
