International Road Dynamics (IRD) has been awarded its second deal in as many months by Indiana Department of Transportation (InDoT) around Weigh in Motion (WiM) technology.

The Can$10.8 million, four-year, agreement will see IRD providing the tools and equipment to build, reconstruct, test and maintain 143 automated traffic Recorder systems, 56 WiM systems and 23 virtual WiM (VWiM) systems operated by InDoT.

VWIM services include maintenance to extend sensor lifetimes, maintain weighing accuracy and ensure reliability of machine vision technology.

“This is an important project to support the state’s safety, mobility and environmental objectives," says Rish Malhotra, IRD president & CEO.

"The systems being supported protect road infrastructure from damage by overloaded vehicles and provide information that factors into the future of the state’s enforcement operations."
