Jenoptik Smart Mobility Solutions together with TrafficTech Middle East will roll out advanced traffic safety systems across Greater Amman Municipality in Jordan.

Under the agreement, TraffiStar SR591 red light and speed enforcement cameras will be installed in the Jordanian capital.

There will also be nine Vector SR P2P (point-to-point) section control devices on key highway stretches to monitor average speeds.

All the incidents collected by the devices will be fed into Jenoptik’s new back office platform, FlowTris, giving the municipality a single, real-time view of traffic violations.

With half of the TraffiStar units on highways and the other half in the city - and the P2P average speed control devices dedicated to highway corridors - the solution is tailored to Greater Amman Municipality’s mixed traffic environment.

“We are thrilled to work with TrafficTech Middle East and the Greater Amman Municipality on a project that directly supports Amman’s Vision Zero ambition," says Tobias Deubel, head of Jenoptik Smart Mobility Solutions.

"We look forward to seeing the positive impact on road safety and the city’s smart city journey."

“This contract demonstrates our commitment to bringing world class traffic management technology to the Jordan,” said Samer Amarin from TrafficTech Middle East, the regional partner that will integrate and maintain the systems.

Founded in 1985 in Amman, Traffic Tech Middle East has expanded its presence across the region, providing services in Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq and the Palestinian Authority areas.

It operates in the fields of intelligent traffic management, smart parking, access control, security and industrial weighing applications.

Around 4,600 people worldwide work for the Jenoptik Group, which is headquartered in Jena, Germany.
