Swarco has acquired 100% of Heusch/Boesefeldt, which provides software solutions for traffic management and tunnel management systems.
“We are strategically expanding our technological expertise in customised software solutions," says Swarco CEO Michael Schuch.
"At the same time, we are strengthening our market presence in the Dach [Germany, Austria and Switzerland] region and beyond, enabling closer collaboration with key Swarco clients in road and highway operations."
Headquartered in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Heusch/Boesefeldt has a branch office in Cottbus, Brandenburg, and employs around 50 staff.
Swarco says the firm plays a key role in the digitalisation and automation of national and international traffic infrastructures, noting its outfitting of the traffic control centre of Germany's highways operator Autobahn and the national traffic management and information centre of Austria's roads operator, Asfinag.
The acquisition "lays the foundation for building a powerful engineering centre for highway and tunnel management systems and for developing forward-looking technologies – especially in the field of CCAM - cooperative, connected, automated mobility", adds Schuch.
Heusch/Boesefeldt managing directors Dirk Hübner and Berthold Jansen said in a statement: "Our innovative, highly developed solutions can now have an even greater impact with Swarco."
The future of the company is secured long-term, they say, meaning staff will have "inspiring prospects: to apply their knowledge and energy to socially meaningful developments and to positively shape the future of mobility".
