Autonomous vehicle (AV) software developer Oxbotica has received a $47m investment boost.

The company, based in Oxford, UK, received the investment from a variety of sources worldwide, including Australia, US, China and UK.

“We have a vision, we have the technology, we have the team, we see the markets and we have the customers,” said Paul Newman, CTO and founder of Oxbotica.

“Adding these high quality investors to this mix, means we can continue to accelerate Oxbotica, and change the way bits (software) move atoms (people and goods).”

The company says the money will accelerate commercial deployment of its autonomy software platform across multiple industries and key markets.

Investors in this round include BGF, BP Ventures, Halma, HostPlus, IP Group,Tencent, Venture Science and funds advised by Doxa Partners.

Oxbotica was founded in 2014 by Oxford University professors Newman and Ingmar Posner.

The company has made eye-catching progress using deepfake technology and gamers to develop its products.

CEO Ozgur Tohumcu called the latest investment a “key chapter in Oxbotica’s continued growth”.
