Connected and autonomous vehicle software specialist Cohda Wireless says that its MK6 on-board unit for Vehicle to Everything (V2X) technology has achieved E1 certification.
This paves the way for Cohda’s V2X tech to be incorporated into public transport systems and as an approved OEM aftermarket accessory across Europe.
As part of the E1 certification process, Cohda’s OBU has passed crucial tests, including ECE R10 and ECE R118.
“These approvals are a significant milestone in ensuring that our V2X technology can be incorporated into public transport fleets and acquired as an approved OEM aftermarket accessory,” said Bernd Luebben, VP business development at Cohda Wireless.
ECE R10 ensures electromagnetic compatibility compliance, necessary for vehicles operating in dense urban environments with extensive electronic systems.
Meanwhile, ECE R118 verifies fire resistance for materials used in vehicle interiors, an essential safety standard for buses and trams.
With E1 certification granted by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, Cohda Wireless’ OBU is now eligible to bear the E1 mark.
This signifies compliance with the stringent safety and regulatory requirements set by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
