Intertraff has launched its D-Cop red-light enforcement camera.

The lightweight product - a development of the existing D-Cop range - can be mounted directly onto existing poles, and has embedded cameras and integrated radar all in one unit.

Cameras read the traffic light status and the radar detects vehicles; it can spot violations without any physical link to the traffic light controller.

The firm says it only needs a simple power connection so there is no complex cabling - and it is designed to be portable, so can run on a 20-amp battery for up to 12 hours if needed.

"This new approach drastically simplifies installation logistics," explains Intertraff founder and CEO Toni Marzo.

"In traditional set-ups, technicians needed to pull cables to the traffic light controller and often extend wiring 80m or more to position the radar in front of the camera on the opposite side of the road."

None of this is required with the D-Cop system, he insists.

"The entire installation can be completed in under an hour, reducing both installation time and overall costs by up to 90% compared to conventional systems."

There is currently a live installation of D-Cop in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.

"It’s been running flawlessly for the past three months, covering three lanes of traffic and catching speed and red-light violations without any direct connection to the traffic signals," concludes Marzo.

The company adds that D-Cop "paves the way" for smarter, faster, and more flexible deployments — whether permanent or temporary.
