Safe and sustainable signage post from Renova

Safety and sustainability are key benefits for Renova’s novel EcoPoste, now coming to the global market. Developed as a lower cost alternative to conventional wood or metal posts for traffic signs, the EcoPoste is made from 100% recycled plastic, allowing it to meet market demands for product sustainability. Fernando Cunha, technical director at the firm explains: “We wanted something to be sustainable.”

Because the EcoPoste is made from plastic, it is also ‘impact friendly’ in the event of a vehicle colliding with the sign. The firm says that the EcoPoste ensures reduced impact severity, eliminating the risk of vehicle penetration or destabilisation following a collision.

Renova says that its production operation recycles around 15 tonnes of plastic/day and also uses little energy or water, lowering its carbon footprint. The product also has the ABNT Green Seal, and Low CO2 Emission Seal, further highlighting its claims to sustainability.

Extensive testing has ensured the EcoPoste performs exactly as required. Cunha says: “From 2019 to 2024, we tested a lot of products. We believe we’ve done more tests than anybody. It’s easy to use, easy to install and very economical.”

The EcoPoste has been CE marked since 2019, although its planned launch in Europe in 2020 was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2022 the EcoPoste started to be offered in Europe and the US and is now well-proven. However, with the establishment of the firm’s new branch in Portugal, the company now intends to boost its position in the European market.
