We are thrilled to continue our partnership with ITS America and kick off the ITS America Conference & Expo 2023. The opportunity to coordinate the only event that brings together intelligent transportation leaders from all relevant sectors is both rewarding and humbling. As we enter a new era of digital infrastructure, events like the ITS America Conference & Expo are crucial to developing and implementing life-changing mobility technologies.

From 24–27 April, 2023, in Grapevine, Texas at the renowned Gaylord Texan Resort, the ITS America Conference & Expo will host ITS experts, national, regional, and local transportation agencies, auto manufacturers, academics, and other leaders for thought-provoking education, networking opportunities, and demonstrations.

Hosting ITS America's annual conference in Texas is a natural fit, as we have tremendous partners that we have worked alongside to make the yearly gathering seamless. Among some of our associates are the Texas Department of Transportation (Texas DOT), the Texas Department of Transportation Dallas District, the Open Mobility Foundation, ITS Texas Chapter, Dallas Innovation Alliance, Texas A&M Transportation Institute, the University of Texas, and the University of Texas Dallas.

Highlight innovation

One of the main objectives of the conference is to highlight innovation and implementation through high-level programming and networking and this year we are delivering. Look no further than this year’s conference themes, which include automated vehicles, emerging technologies, mobility on demand and equitable transportation, smart and digital infrastructure, sustainability and resiliency, and V2X/connected vehicles. The infrastructure and transportation spaces are rapidly evolving, and we are confident that these themes will cover all the critical conversations needed to strengthen the industry's future and more. The conference will feature two plenary sessions focused on emerging technologies: “Digital Infrastructure and The Future of Mobility” and ways to update legacy systems for the digital age. The second plenary is “Implementing Innovation and Building an Equitable Transportation System” and ways ITS is simultaneously strengthening and decarbonising our technology systems. Further, the event will highlight a state Department of Transportation roundtable in partnership with AASHTO and a city DOT Roundtable in collaboration with the Open Mobility Foundation. In addition to networking with industry leaders and attending thought-provoking programming, attendees can learn from skill-enhancing workshops. Throughout the conference, the show will provide six workshops: Developing the US National Strategy for Digital Infrastructure; ITS4Equity Deployment Program; The Future of Freight: Automated Vehicles, Regulatory Guidance and Deploying Supply Chain Solutions; Gender Equity Forum and Breakfast: From Raising Awareness to Actionable Change; Exploring the Evolving Role of Microtransit in 2023; Automated Air Mobility: Digitising Airspace and Connecting Communities to Vertical Mobility.

Daily highlights

To go along with the stellar programming, attendees will have access to daily highlights that add to the unparalleled experience offered at the ITS America Conference & Expo. Tuesday’s Emergency Response Program will focus on emergency responders' needs and challenges on our roadways. Through workshops, curated educational sessions, live demonstrations, and more, the emergency response programming seeks to increase the personal safety of responders and motorists while restoring mobility for emergency, commercial, and personal traffic accidents.

ITSA1The experiences don’t stop there. This year's event will feature several programs that inspire and reward work in the ITS space. On Wednesday, the ITS Awards Reception will take place, recognising the “Best of ITS Award” brought to you by Amazon Web Services, which honours the best partnership that has created an innovative project that advanced ITS technologies to benefit communities and the Best State Chapter award. Also taking place on Wednesday is the Future Leaders Program, sponsored by Southwest Research Institute and ITS Texas. The program is designed to bring students, emerging leaders, and early-stage professionals to the ITS America Conference & Expo to inspire, educate, and encourage a potential future in ITS.

Like the ITS World Congress 2022, the ITS America Conference & Expo will feature tech tours, allowing guests to look inside the Dallas/Fort Worth area's infrastructure and how ITS technologies are being implemented nationwide. Attendees can visit the DalTrans Facility, the largest-owned Texas DOT Transportation Management Center (TMC). In addition, other tech tours include an exclusive tour of the Dallas Fort Worth Airport looking at projects, enhancements, and innovations including learning more about the Skylink Innovation Centre, Access Control, and piloted autonomous vehicle programs; and a tour of the LBJ Express taking a look at the $2.7 billion highway reconstruction project along Interstates 635 and 35E and Loop 12.

International sales and business development opportunities

Another unparalleled offering at this year’s event is the International Trade Event Partnership Program. Exhibitors are presented with international sales and business development opportunities through a partnership with the US Commercial Service and ITS America Events. Exhibitors are given country-specific counselling with US Embassy Industry Experts and international trade assistance with US Commercial Service Trade Experts from numerous federal agencies. These complementary services are crucial to promoting a business landscape that makes the ITS America Conference & Expo a learning opportunity and an international business growth opportunity.

As you can see, this year’s conference has no shortage of high-level content. The ITS space is drastically advancing, and our goal as a partner of ITS America is to ensure our events match the pace of the industry. Our high-level programming, thoughtful plenaries, and impactful conversations set our annual conference apart.
