AMG launches small solution to big challenges

AMG is launching a ‘world-beating’ Gigabit Ethernet media converter, the AMG260M range, at ITS America 2024. Its new ultra-compact fibre optic and industrially hardened AMG260M is said to be the world’s smallest full-featured 90W Power over Ethernet industrial gigabit media converter.

It is available with or without PoE including models capable of powering the latest high-power PoE IP devices in difficult applications requiring industrially hardened equipment immune to temperature shock and vibration. What’s more, the Power over Ethernet PD-powered model can be used in installation without any local power.

Its ultra-compact enclosure is both rugged and thermally efficient and comes with a magnetic mount option as well as the usual DIN-Rail or wall-mount capabilities. The range is fully hardened and, in suitable IP-rated housings, can operate outdoors and in extreme temperatures.

Smart functionality enables numerous field-selectable intelligent features such as link-fault pass-through, remote device reset and extended distance mode for the copper cable. The converters are particularly suited to the transportation sector as they can connect IP equipment to Ethernet networks that require optical fibre to achieve longer transmission distances.

AMG says the AMG260M Series is NEMA approved, TAA and NDAA compliant and can be used in all US government installations. It has a dual-speed 100Mb/1Gb SFP port for connectivity, and AMG offers a wide range of SFPs for fibre, connector type and distance.
