The company’s Protected Corridor solution improves response times for first responders while ensuring safety for all road users in the area, including blue light vehicles.

The Commsignia Protected Corridor consists of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) roadside units (RSUs) integrated with traffic light controllers to provide preemption for ambulances and fire trucks. The RSUs also use data from roadside cameras and other sensors to detect road users, determine whether the road is clear, and warn of potential hazards. The RSUs can even actuate traditional amber LEDs or variable message signs to alert non-connected road users – especially pedestrians – about the arriving prioritised vehicle.

Ambulance drivers get road safety notifications right on the vehicle dashboard, while other vehicles receive alerts to yield the right of way.
