In the meantime, everyone in the host city of Vienna is getting ready to welcome visitors to this, the 19th Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress. Throughout the 5-day event, prominent locations in the ‘best city in the world’ (Mercer Quality of Living Survey in 2009, 2010, and 2011) will hold different elements of the congress, and everything is being hosted by the BMVIT (Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology), and organised by Ertico, an umbrella organisation for ITS in Europe. There will also be support from local organisers AustriaTech. The congress programme includes an exhibition, technical lectures, and a demonstration area.

To see the recent ITS international preview article in detail, please go to www.itsinternational.com/sections/associations/features/its-world-congress-2012-highlights-connectivity/ . The theme of this year’s congress is “smarter on the way,” and the organisers hope to “throw a spotlight on the ways in which user-friendly ITS can benefit both private and commercial customers.” Also, there will be a lot of discussion around “connecting modes of transport to make traffic systems flow more easily.”
