Hundreds of transportation management centres (TMCs) around North America took on a new challenge this year – how to maintain the essential services they provide, while keeping staff safe during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Many TMCs feature operators and other staff working in close proximity, sometimes even sharing desks, equipment, and other facilities, around the clock. Many of these centres, and their supporting systems, were not designed for remote operations. Even those who were able to go remote faced challenges with limited functionality or performance.
