Shortlist for 2011 Transport Achievement Award

The 998 International Transport Forum at the OECD, an intergovernmental organisation for the transport sector that comprises 52 countries, has announced the projects shortlisted for its 2011 Transport Achievement Award. These awards honour transport projects that have demonstrated excellence in meeting the transport needs of their clients and 'put people first'. It is awarded by the International Transport Forum at the OECD in conjunction with the European Association for Forwarding, Transport, Logistics and Customs Services (CLECAT), the International Federation of Freight Forwarding Associations (FIATA) and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP).

From this year's applications, the award jury has short-listed projects from Denmark, Mexico, Germany, Turkey, Canada and the United Kingdom for their very high quality as potentially worthy of the Transport Achievement Award (in alphabetical order of candidates):

  • "Better Bus Ride": 476 Arriva Skandinavien, Denmark
  • "Metrobus" System: Centre for Sustainable Transport (CST), Mexico
  • Green Road to Rail:  DHL Global Forwarding, Germany
  • Connecting Asia and Europe: Istanbul Electricity, Tram and Tunnel (IETT), Turkey
  • 747 Express Bus: 4335 Société de Transport de Montréal, Québec, Canada
  • Independence Travel Mentoring Scheme: York Independent Living and Travel Skills (YILTS) Service, United Kingdom

The winner of the Transport Achievement Award will be honoured at a ceremony at the International Transport Forum’s annual summit in Leipzig, Germany, on Thursday, 26 May.
