The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) today announced that 21 organisations around the country will receive a share of US$19.5 million in grants to support comprehensive planning projects that improve access to public transit. Nicknamed the Aggie Bus, the new vehicle is also the first of its kind in the world to achieve key performance standards for a wirelessly charged vehicle.

INIT, Innovations in Transportation, has signed a contract with the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) in Salt Lake City for the installation of an intelligent transportation solution to be fitted on more than 35 FrontRunner commuter rail vehicles. Fifty per cent of the vehicles already have existing automatic passenger counting technology from INIT and will be upgraded with the new system components.
