Adaptive Recognition has introduced the North American edition of its ANPR Cloud which it says covers number plates in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Adaptive says the North American module currently only covers the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) service while the make, model and colour recognition features are expected to be available in the third quarter of 2021.

Those using ANPR Cloud do not need to keep systems constantly up to date as it happens in the cloud, the company adds, where Adaptive ANPR engines receive images of vehicles and return data to a user's application.

The company says on its website the service can provide data for businesses either as a corporate parking or a traffic monitoring system.

The system is powered by the Carmen recognition engine, which Adaptive insists comes with more than 33,000 plate types of coverage.

Adaptive is allowing users to upload 200 images to ANPR Cloud for free to see how the system performs.

The company introduced the service in Europe in September 2020.
