The product, with the acronym SMALL (Smart, Multi-Approach, Limited Lane system), is the latest application for the company’s Expanse System platform and is said to provide accurate and reliable stop bar detection for all four intersection approaches.

According to Dan Duckwitz, marketing manager at Wavetronix, the SMALL system is designed specifically for smaller intersections and offers all the benefits of Wavetronix radar.  “SMALL is a cost-effective replacement for loops and video, with superior stop bar detection capabilities provided by a single device,” he says.

Duckwitz describes it as “the perfect solution for isolated or rural intersections and other, smaller intersections that only require stop bar detection for efficient operation.”

The SMALL system uses the new XP21 sensor for detection, Arc cabinet devices for power, communication and surge protection and the Expanse System platform for configuration and management. With this combination, the Expanse System platform is said to offer a unique, unified user experience that is designed to continuously grow and expand with new applications.
